In relation to increasing number of hospitalized Covid-19 patients, the State Operative Medical Commission decided on Thursday to declare the state of emergency in the health care system, said Health Ministry's state secretary Daina Murmane-Umbrasko, cited LETA.

Results of European Health Interview Survey (EHIS) conducted by Central Statistical Bureau show that in 2019, the condition of teeth and gums was assessed as good and very good by 45.8 % of the population, and as bad or very bad - by every fifth inhabitant of Latvia (20.0%).

In 2019, social protection expenditure in Latvia increased by 7.6 %

Provisional data of the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that in 2019 Latvian social protection expenditure accounted for almost 5 billion or EUR 4 775.6 million and, it has grown by EUR 335.4 million or 7.6 %, compared to 2018. Expenditure on sickness and heath care grew by 15.0 %, on survivors' support by 12.0 %, on old-age pensions and on material support for old age by 5.5 %.
