The Lithuanian government is planning to send a military plane to fly home Lithuanians trapped at the Polish-German border, Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis said on Sunday, citing LETA/BNS.

"We'll try to fly people from the Polish-German border via Berlin by the Spartan if we fail to convince Poland to open a humanitarian corridor," Skvernelis told LETA/BNS.

"We hope to fly the first group back today," he added.

According to the prime minister, the ministries of foreign affairs and defense are currently making arrangements for the flight to take place.

A group of Lithuanians on their way back home got trapped at the border after Poland closed its borders to foreign nationals to stem the coronavirus spread.
