Estonian Environmental Investment Center opens EUR 13.5 mln round of applications

The Estonian Environmental Investment Center (KIK) has opened a round of applications for finding participants in an environmental program aimed at supporting activities in water management, forestry, environmental protection, fisheries, protection of atmospheric air, marine environment and circular economy for a total sum of 13.5 mln euros, informed LETA/BNS.

Eligible to participate in the round are local governments, non-profit organizations, foundations, entrepreneurs, universities, educational establishments, environmental organizations and self-employed persons. The deadline for applications is March 16, the Environmental Investment Center said.


Altogether 4.1 mln euros from the budget of the environmental program will be allocated for the circular economy to support greater resource efficiency, and 3.9 mln euros for water management to ensure the availability of high-quality drinking water and wastewater services everywhere in Estonia.


Projects aimed at raising environmental awareness will be supported with 2.1 mln euros and those in environmental protection with 1.2 mln. 


Altogether 700,000 euros will be allocated for projects in the area of forestry, and 650,000 euros for the protection of atmospheric air.


Budget for the area of fisheries totals 449,000 euros and that for the marine environment 435,000 euros.


Applications are submitted through the Environmental Investment Center database KIKAS and the winning projects are selected by late June. The support program was developed by the Ministry of the Environment.
