Minimum social tax obligation to rise to EUR 178 a month in Estonia from 2020

The minimum amount of money that has to be paid in social tax on an individual for the individual to be entitled to social security is 178.2 euros a month from the beginning of 2020, compared with 165 euros this year, informed LETA/BNS.
The minimum amount applies also to part-time
employees.
The monthly rate of social tax, an amount established to
provide the basis for the payment of social tax, is 540 euros a month for
2020, equal to the national minimum wage in 2019.
The monthly minimum social tax obligation applies to
employees who are paid a smaller amount per month than the national minimum
wage. In addition, it applies to members of management boards of businesses,
who likewise must pay 178.2 euros a month in social tax starting from 2020 to
have medical insurance.
The national minimum wage in Estonia for 2020 is 584 euros a
month for full-time employees.
