Gulbis through to second round of Australian Open

Print versionLatvia's top ranked tennis player Ernests Gulbis on Tuesday opened this year's Australian Open Grand Slam tennis tournament with a win, reported LETA.
Gulbis, who is currently ranked 258th in the world, defeated Canada's Felix Auger-Aliassime (ranked 22nd) 7-5, 4-6, 7-6, 6-4 in the tournament's opening round.
In the tournament's second round, Gulbis will take on Slovenia's Aljaz Bedene, who is currently ranked 55th in the world.
Gulbis has earned 70 ATP ranking points for advancing to the second round of the Australian Open.
