In May 2014, Estonia's national carrier Estonian Air carried 49,613 passengers, out of which 48,185 on regular flights; in the same month last year, Estonian Air carried 52,755 passengers, the company announced, cites LETA.

In the first five months of this year, Estonian Air carried 204,359 passengers, out of which 197,847 on regular flights. In the same period last year, Estonian Air carried altogether 220,961 passengers.

From January to May 2014, Estonian Air operated 4,311 flights, which is 8.9% less compared to the same period last year. In May Estonian Air operated 1,013 flights.

"Up to May we were in line with our restructuring plan. In May we had better than expected development on our routes to Stockholm and Moscow, but continued lower passenger volumes on Kiev due to the situation in Ukraine and increased competition and pressure on prices on most of our other routes ended up with a May result a bit lower than we anticipated. However, in June we have seen the passenger volume coming back, but it remains to be seen how the price competition will affect us," says Jan Palmér, the CEO of Estonian Air.

The 15-minute punctuality of Estonian Air flights in the first five months was 95.0%, an increase of 5.7 percentage points compared to the same period last year. The regularity was 99.4%, a decrease 0.1 percentage point compared to the same period last year.

In May the punctuality and regularity were 94.1% and 99.4% respectively.
