BC, Vilnius, 04.10.2013.Print version
Considering the growing number of postcrossing community members, Lithuania Post (Lietuvos Pastas) will release a postage stamp dedicated to this hobby, the website post.lt informed BC.

The new stamp named Atvirlaiskiu mainai (Postcrossing) will be put into circulation on October 5, Saturday.

The stamp for international items has been designed by Laima Matuzonyte, schoolgirl. The stamp features different postcards.

Along with the stamp, the first day cover will be released. On Saturday in Vilnius Main Post Office postal correspondence paid by the new stamp will be marked by the first day cancellation.

Postcrossing is an international voluntary project aiming to encourage people to send handwritten postcards and receive them from any country in the world.

To join the project, one has to register on the website at www.postcrossing.com. For registered participants, the system automatically selects an address to send a postcard to. The system can select any registered participant from any country in the world. Once you send a postcard, you receive a postcard from another project participant. This is how the postcrossing works.
