Riga-Moscow bus collides with another bus in Russia; 9 people killed

In the night on September 6th, an Ecolines Riga-Moscow passenger bus collided with another bus in Pskov Oblast, Russia, writes LETA.

According to the RIA Novosti news agency, nine people were killed in the accident. More than 20 were injured. 19 of them were taken to local hospitals.

 

Among those killed, four people from Ecolines Riga-Moscow bus, Ecolines representative Maija Prozorovica informed LETA.

 

The accident happened on the 519th kilometer of the Moscow-Riga highway, when two buses – "Man" from Riga and "Hyundai" from Moscow collided 30 kilometers away from the village of Pustoshka. "Man" was carrying 47 passengers and three crew members at the time, "Hyundai" – 45 passengers and two crew members.

 

Three Latvian citizens were killed in this night's tragic bus accident in Russia – an Ecolines bus driver (born 1957) and two women (born 1989 and 1959), according to the latest information.

 

A Russian woman (born 1963), who was on the same bus, was also killed.


Two Latvian citizens sustained heavy injuries and are currently being treated in a local hospital.
