A total of seven railway accidents took place in the first half of this year. There were three cases of collision of a highway vehicle and train, people were not injured in those. There were four cases when a train hit a person on the rails, in which three people were injured and one was killed, Technical Supervision Board said.

All three collision cases took place in railway crossings supplied with traffic lights which shows that the cause was inattentiveness of drivers.

The main reason for trains hitting people has in recent years been the fact that people cross the railways in places not meant for it, reported LETA.
