After the meeting, Dombrovskis told reporters that both countries are interested in extending the current container transportation route to China and attracting additional cargo flows from China's northwestern regions, reports LETA.

The officials also discussed the possibilities the Northern Distribution Network and its potential use for reverse cargo transportation.

Zhumagaliyev in turn pointed out that Latvia and Kazakhstan should join forces and cooperate in developing transport logistics, since cargo volumes from China to Europe are considerable and the countries will not be able to operate in this area on their own.

The minister also urged Latvian companies to make use of Kazakh transport and logistics centers.
