Rigas satiksme offers reducing public transportation volume by 5%

Print versionThe Rigas satiksme public transportation company is offering to cut back tram, trolley and bus schedules by 5% in 2009 instead of raising fares.

The offer appears in the company's 2009 draft budget.
To avoid a fare hike, Rigas satiksme is also prepared to slow down wage increases for its employees and decreasing investments and administrative costs.
The budget also expects a LVL 28.6 million increase in subsidy money from the Riga municipality.
