The Irish low-fare airline Ryanair plans to cancel flights from Riga to Rome as of March 25, the business information portal Nozare.lv was informed by the airline.

The flights will be cancelled so Ryanair could continue to offer passengers inexpensive tickets to exciting destinations. Each year, the airline revises its routes, cutting around 5% of flights, in order to develop potentially stronger and more popular routes in Ryanair network covering more than 160 airports, writes LETA.

The Airport Riga, however, has not received any information regarding these changes as yet.

Ryanair operated with EUR 14.9 million (LVL 10.5 million) in net profit in the third quarter of the current business year.

The airline's turnover increased 13% to EUR 844 million (LVL 593.2 million).

In 2010, Ryanair net losses amounted to EUR 10.3 million (LVL 7.2 million).
