British carrier Flybe has shown interest towards opening a route between South Estonia’s resort Pärnu and Helsinki but the plan can become a reality only after the Pärnu airport is renovated, LETA/National Broadcasting reports.

The renovation however will cost at least 10 million EUR.

Tallinn Airport’s board member Erik Sakkovs aid that the Pärnu airport has seen only emergency work done and needs a complete renovation. Sakkov said that the work can be financed from the European Union Cohesion Fund.

“If all goes well and we get that money, then we can turn the Pärnu airport into something like we have done in Tartu and an aviation company like Flybe can regularly fly from there,” said Sakkov.
