Number of flyLAL passengers in January-August 2008 exceeded results of the entire year 2007

Over the first eight months of the year 2008, the results of the company flyLAL – Lithuanian airlines exceeded the results of the entire year 2007. More than 500,000 passengers used the services of flyLAL in January-August 2008. Last year, 475,000 passengers were transported over twelve months.

In August this year, the company flew 81,775 passengers, which made up 36% of the total number of passengers at Vilnius Airport. flyLAL occupied 26% of Vilnius Airport market in August 2007. Compared to August 2007, the number of flyLAL passengers went up by 34,280 passengers, an increase of 71%. In August 2008, the total number of passengers at Vilnius Airport grew by 44,364 passengers compared to August last year, informs ELTA.

 

"The results of flyLAL summer flights reveal the tendency that the growth of Vilnius Airport is essentially determined by the development of the national company flyLAL – Lithuanian airlines and its successful activities: the greatest part of the increased number of passengers consists of flyLAL passengers. Moreover, these results indicate that it is very important for a country and its main airport to have a strong airline company interested in the developments of this airport," said flyLAL CEO Vytautas Kaikaris.
