The longest painted fence in Latvia created at Riga Port
During these two days, with laughter and songs, the longest painted wall in Latvia was created in Vecmīlgrāvis. To achieve the aim, students of several schools of Vecmīlgrāvis were invited; the Freeport of Riga Authority provided an opportunity for them to get acquainted with work of the port and later reproduce it all in their paintings, informed BC port’s press service.
Representatives of the Freeport of Riga participated in the event, festive speech was given by Kārlis Leiškalns, CEO of the Latvian Association of Ports, and later representatives of the port also joined the students in painting of the fence. A brass band opened the event with music, but throughout the day joyful music was played by DJ Mīl grāvis. So as forces and creativity did not wane, participants of the project could refresh themselves with lunch and continue works with additional alacrity.
“I can announce with sincere pleasure and gratitude that the Freeport of Riga and inhabitants of Vecmīlgrāvis are finally working together,” said Ansis Bērziņš, Member of Vecmīlgrāvis Development Society, when announcing the project “Our Port” open.
Good is the work that is done, and even more, the event can be assessed as successful and all interested parties are satisfied. This event will serve as source of inspiration, continuing the successfully commenced cooperation, and on this pleasant note the Freeport of Riga Authority organizes the annual “Kids day” that will take place next weekend.
