On Friday's afternoon, April 22, Lithuania's first electromobile charging station, which meets the European standards, will be opened next to the office of Kaunas District Municipality.

The station was constructed by the company Elinta, located in the Kaunas Free Economic Zone. For a symbolic price of 1 litas (3.45 euros) the company will rent the charging station to Kaunas District Municipality, reports LETA/ELTA.

In addition to that, Elinta will allow a couple of weeks for the municipality to use an electric car to assess its advantages and economy. As Vilma Kasperaviciene, advisor to Kaunas district mayor, says, the municipality has undertaken to promote environmentally friendly transport and cover the electricity costs of the maintenance of the charging station, which should amount up to 50 litas per month.

The charging station is experimental; it will be tested for a couple of months.
