The Swiss railcar maker Stadler Bussnag AG (Stadler) is not planning to bid for the supply of 34 new electric trains and seven diesel trains for the joint-stock company Pasazieru vilciens (Passenger Train, PV), as Zoltan Dunai, the head of Stadler branch in Hungary responsible for the company's arrival on the Latvian market, said to the business portal Nozare.lv.

Dunai also said he would not comment PV's wish to prolong the deadline for bids until March 31. Stadler has no intention of guessing how many times the deadline will be extended, said Dunai.

Nozare.lv was not given a straight answer if Stadler would withdraw from the PV's tender, but Dunai said that Stadler did not have to formally withdraw, it could opt to not present its offer, writes LETA.

PV previously said that the deadline for bids for the supply of new trains had been prolonged until March 31.

The previous deadline was February 28, but PV decided to move it to a later date taking into account that one of the bidders, railcar manufacturer Rigas vagonbuves rupnica, had submitted a complaint to the Procurement Monitoring Bureau. In doing so, PV hopes to avoid any possible uncertainties during the procurement process.

Earlier, Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles, Stadler Bussnag AG and Rigas vagonbuves rupnica in tandem with Bombardier were shortlisted by PV.
