Saaremaa-Ventspils shipping route has gained more foreign tourists in 2008

SSC Ferries, subsidiary of Saaremaa Laevakompanii, announced that in 2008 the number of foreign tourists travelling on the Saaremaa-Ventspils route has grown.

The number of German and Lithuanian tourists has grown the most, but there have also been passengers from more exotic countries such as Mexico, Australia, Japan, Saudi Arabia and Israel, writes EPL Online.

 

Head of SSC Ferries Anu Lomp stated that the Saaremaa-Ventspils route has increased its popularity among foreign tourists since the beginning of the season and their share among passengers has increased.

 

“The number of countries of origin of passengers has also increased – this year citizens of a total of 31 States from five continents have travelled between Saaremaa and Ventspils, as many as 21 European Union Member States are also represented,” said Lomp.

 

The Saaremaa-Ventspils route will be operated until August 31 and until the end of the season ten trips will be made every week.
