Gerhards and representatives from the Economy Ministry – advisor to economy minister Emils Jakrins (For Fatherland and Freedom/LNNK) and ministry's state secretary Anrijs Matiss were on a visit to Ventspils to meet Ventspils City Council administration, press representatives and several entrepreneurs.

On July 24, the delegation visited Bio-Venta biodiesel production plant and Bucher Shoerling Baltic – street and airports cleaning machines manufacture, as well as Ventspils High Technology Park, Wood Industry Proficiency Center, companies Arbo and Eko majas and met with representatives of these enterprises to discuss issues, mainly related to the European Funds programs.

In the press conference, Gerhards pointed out that in the given economic situation Latvian entrepreneurs can benefit from participating in European Funds programs as the state provides support to the entrepreneurs to uptake these appropriations.

Previously, representatives from the Economy Ministry already visited Ventspils on July 18 in order to become acquainted with the projects, which are under the ministry's administration and are being carried out in Ventspils.
