The crew detected technical problems aboard the plane on a Riga-Brussels flight after the takeoff, and the plane kept flying around Riga for about an hour to use up as much fuel as possible and then make an emergency landing at the Riga International Airport, writes LETA.
European Parliament member Sandra Kalniete (Unity) and Krisjanis Karins (Unity) were also on board the plane.
