The Estonian government wants to increase the competitiveness of the Tallinn Airport and thus intends to cover a part of the costs of the company from the state budget, LETA/National Broadcasting reports.

Economy and Communications Minister Juhan Parts told National Broadcasting radio news that a proper flight connection is an important part of the state’s competitiveness.

"We will make that change to make the Tallinn Airport considerably more competitive and attractive for all aviation companies,” he said.

The minister said that the state intends to finance the airport’s security and rescue system costs. Parts explained that this is allowed according to the European Union rules.
