On Friday Estonian Air and the Canadian aircraft producer Bombardier signed a contract according to which the Estonian national carrier will receive the first two CRJ900NextGen aircrafts in the beginning of 2011 and the third in 2012, writes LETA/Postimees Online.

Long-term loans from different financing sources and the airline’s own funds will be used for purchasing the aircrafts and the contract will enter into force after Riigikogu will approve allocating funds for acquiring shares of Estonian Air in the ownership of the Estonian State.

Estonian Air will use the new planes on shorter flights where demand among business travellers is higher, with the purpose of increasing traffic to main destinations for business travellers such as to Moscow and to Brussels etc. The airline is also planning to add new destinations to its schedules.
