While the number of passengers travelling through the Tallinn Airport fell by a quarter in 2009, the ground handling enterprise Tallinn Airport GH managed to boost its turnover generated in 2009 by 74% and doubled its profits, writes Äripäev.ee/LETA.

Last year Estonian Air, for example, abandoned its own ground handling services unit in order to cut costs, made approximately a hundred of its employees redundant and started buying the services of Tallinn Airport GH. The latter enterprise also gained Estonian Air Regional, Czech Airlines, airBaltic, easyjet and City Airline as its customers last year.

Tallinn Airport GH’s operating profits earned last year amounted to 12 million kroons.

Turnover that amounted in 2009 to 77.2 million kroons was also slightly supported by the work burden added by opening international flight traffic in the Tartu Airport. This year the enterprise is planning to start operating services in the Pärnu Airport as well.

Last year, the ground-handling enterprise employed an average staff of 132 – by a third more than a year before. As of end of the year the number of employees grew to 157. Labour costs amounted to 29.2 million kroons.

Tallinn Airport GH is a subsidiary of the Tallinn Airport.
