Riga International Airport serves 520,856 mln passengers in July

For the first time ever, monthly passenger numbers at Riga International Airport exceeded half a million in July 2010, the business portal Nozare.lv was informed by airport spokesman Martins Langrats. The exact number of passengers served by the airport in July was 520,856, which represents a 20% increase on the previous July.

In the first seventh months of this year, the number of passengers using the airport has reached 2,615,483, a year-on-year increase of 16.2%, or 364,118 more passengers.

 

In July 2010, 6,932 aircraft used the airport, a 20.5% increase year-on-year. Altogether, 38,752 aircraft have used the airport in the first seven months of 2010, 14.1% more than in the same period last year, reports LETA.

 

In July, the airport handled 1,058 tons of cargo, an increase of 44.9% on July 2009. Over seven months, the total handled cargo volume stands at 6,495 tons, representing a year-on-year increase of 31.6%.

 

According to preliminary information, the airport operated with a profit of LVL 383,000 in 2009.

 

Riga International Airport provides services to 16 airlines, of which the newest partners are Belavia, Wizzair, TAROM and AeroSvit. Passengers travel from Riga airport to 81 destinations. In 2009, the airport served 4,066,793 passengers, an increase of 10.2% on the previous year.
