The Riga-based taxi company Baltic Taxi owned by airBaltic is planning to expand its business to foreign countries, writes LETA/Äripäev.ee, citing bb.lv.

The likely target countries for airBaltic taxi service are Estonia and Lithuania as well as Ukraine. CEO of the company Janis Naglis stated that although no definitive decisions have been made, a lot of work is being done at the possible future locations.

Naglis noted that there are also peculiarities to each market – for example in Tallinn, there is a hidden monopoly in the area surrounding the port and that might become an obstacle for Baltic Taxi.

The decision, in which country and when to launch business operations will probably be done after each of the potential markets will be assessed. According to Naglis, Baltic Taxi is planning to focus on the work with corporate customers, not on catching individual customers from taxi stops.
