Estonian Air reported that in comparison to the month of April, it increased the number of passengers on the Lithuanian market by nearly a quarter in May 2010, writes LETA/Äripäev.ee.

Estonian Air provided services to a total of 6,281 passengers on the Lithuanian market in May – 4,830 of them travelled on the route Tallinn-Vilnius-Amsterdam and 1,451 on the route Vilnius-Tallinn. In comparison to the month of April, the number of passengers grew by 23.9%.

In May, the occupancy rate on the flights on the route Tallinn-Vilnius-Amsterdam was 89.2%. The airline estimated that for a route that was only launched in mid-February it was a very good result.

“In a short period of time, Estonian Air has significantly reinforced its positions on the Lithuanian market, becoming one of the bigger international carriers from a marginal market actor in terms of the number of passengers in only three and a half months,” explained Rauno Parras, Vice President of Estonian Air in charge of commerce.

“Competition on the Vilnius market in carrying passengers to major key airports is extremely fierce, but due to a good flight schedule, attractive price offers and solid co-operation with the airline KLM, we have managed to take a leading position on the Vilnius-Amsterdam route,” added Parras.
