Latvian national carrier airBaltic is unsatisfied with infrastructure of Tartu Airport and calls to Estonian authorities to make improvements in its regional airports for them to meet international standards, LETA cites BBN.

"Tartu airport needs to improve its navigation infrastructure to conform to standards of an international airport – without that passengers suffer from bad weather-related problems. Customer needs are of utmost importance for airBaltic, and we urge Tartu airport to make improvements," said Janis Vanags, corporate communication deputy president of airBaltic.

According to Vanags, Estonia is an important market for airBaltic that in less than a year the airline has increased its number of direct routes from a single Riga-Tallinn to six direct routes and that airBaltic is evaluating more direct routes from Estonia.

"airBaltic is satisfied about success of Tartu-Riga route and has tripled the number of weekly flights compared to the original schedule," Vanags noted.
