Passenger volumes at Airport Riga increased by 18.4% in 2 months

This past February, the airport serviced 272,013 passengers, which is 21.1% more when compared to February of 2009, writes LETA.
In February, the airport handled 4,371 aircraft, which is 16.4% more than in the same month of the previous year, when the airport handled 3,756 aircraft. Riga Airport has handled a total of 9,222 aircraft in the first two months of this year, which is 11.2% more when compared to the first two months of last year.
Cargo turnover at Riga International Airport in February rose by 43.4% year on year reaching 933 tons. In the two months of this year, cargo turnover reached 1,758 tons or 39.2% more than in the same period of 2009, when the airport handled 1,263 tons of cargo.
As reported, last year, Riga Airport served 4,066,793 passengers, which was 10.2% more than in 2008.
Currently, passengers from Riga International Airport can fly to 69 direct destinations. In 2009, 11 new routes were opened: to Tromso (Norway), Palanga and Kaunas (Lithuania), Linkoping (Sweden), Dushanbe (Tajikistan), Forli (Italy), Geneva (Switzerland), Tartu (Estonia), Turku and Lapeennranta (Finland), as well as Pskov (Russia).
