Over 1.8 mln passengers travelled to Estonia’s bigger islands by ferry in 2009

Print versionVäinamere Liinid, that operates ferry traffic between Estonia’s mainland and larger islands, said that in 2009, it transported 1,831,204 passengers and 714,682 vehicles.

On the mainland-Saaremaa route, 1,318,894 people and 521,810 passengers travelled. The number of passengers fell 8.2% and that of vehicles 6.3%, informs LETA.
On the mainland-Hiiumaa route the company serviced 472,255 passengers and 176,932 vehicles, falls of 4.7 and 1.9% less respectively.
On the Saaremaa-Hiiumaa route, 40,055 passengers and 15,940 vehicles travelled; the number of passengers fell 5% and number of vehicles by 3.9%.
