Latvia’s LDz Cargo registers best rail freight turnover figures in Baltics in 10 months

The Latvian state-owned joint-stock company Latvijas dzelzcels subsidiary LDz Cargo was the best-performing railroad company in the Baltic countries in the first ten months of 2009, according to data compiled by the business information portal "Nozare.lv".

Although turnover volumes decreased for all Baltic railroad companies, the turnover of LDz Cargo decreased the least, 1.7% year-on-year, to 44.7 million tons of freight altogether, writes LETA.

 

The second smallest decrease was recorded in Estonia, 4.1%. A total of 20.7 million tons of various freight was transported by the Estonian rail (Eesti Raudtee) in the first ten months.

 

Lithuania's Lietuvos gelezinkeliai registered the steepest drop in freight turnover, 26.4%, down to 34.5 million total tons.
