The transport commissioner of the European Commission together with the transport ministers of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland and Finland settled to search for new technical solutions and ways of financing in order to achieve the 120km/h speed in the whole Rail Baltica line that would satisfy all the countries.

This provision is included in the joint declaration signed by the ministers at the conference on the development of Rail Baltica on Monday, reported BC Lithuania’s Foreign Ministry.

"Having signed the declaration, we undertook to cooperate actively in order to make Rail Baltica the most important part of the European railroads' network," claimed Minister of Transport and Communications Eligijjus Masiulis

The Rail Baltica project together with other underlying projects of the Baltic region and Central Europe projects will constitute the transport network of the European importance, necessary not only to the EU domestic market but also to the EU communications with other countries. In 2004 the EU included Rail Baltica in its priority project list of 30 TransEuropean transport network projects.
