BC, Vilnius, 26.11.2020.Print version
The construction of the European-gauge railway Rail Baltica in Lithuania will include building four sites for military equipment to facilitate the arrival of NATO units for training, Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai (Lithuanian Railways, LTG), said.

The sites for loading and unloading military equipment from trains are to be set up near Kazlu Ruda, Kaunas Intermodal Terminal, Jonava and Panevezys by 2026, the state railway operator said.

The sites will be connected to the road network and will be able to accommodate up to three trains with up to 300 units of equipment at a time.

Currently, NATO military equipment transported by rail to Lithuania is reloaded at the Sestokai terminal on the border with Poland.
