Lithuania's new car market shrinks 26.5% in Jan-Jul
BC, Vilnius, 03.08.2020.Print version
Some 22,000 new passenger cars were registered in Lithuania in January-July, down 27 percent from 30,000 cars in the same period last year, market research company Autotyrimai said on Monday, informs LETA/BNS.
In July alone, new car registrations dropped 7.7 percent year-on-year to 3,600 units, it said, citing data from the state car registration company Regitra.
The July drop is markedly smaller compared to April, May or June, the company noted, adding, however, that the market is undoubtedly still feeling the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic. Meanwhile, the ongoing recovery in re-export is a key market factor.
Last month, the top three brands of new personal cars included Fiat (992 new cars registered), Toyota (532) and Volkswagen (367).
