The preliminary design of the international passenger terminal of the Rail Baltic railway in Parnu in Estonia will be completed in August, construction is to start in 2021, informs LETA/BNS.

"Rail Baltic's international passenger terminal in Parnu is the first such large object that we will start building in the Rail Baltic project already in 2021. In August, the preliminary design will be completed and the procedures for the processing of a building permit can begin," Tonu Grunberg, CEO of Rail Baltic Estonia, said in a press release.

The authors of the preliminary design of the new terminal are the architects Indrek Allmann, Jaan Jagomagi and Tanno Tammesson of the Arhitektuuriburoo Pluss architecture firm. The future station building will address the classic needs of a terminal, such as lounges, a ticket office and catering. A 90-seat lounge is planned for the terminal building, as well as a cafe, information points and rooms with other necessary functions.

In addition to the RB Ulemiste and Parnu terminals for international traffic, 11 local stops are planned for Rail Baltic in Estonia -- Assaku, Luige, Saku, Kurtna, Kohila, Rapla, Jarvakandi, Kaisma, Tootsi, Kilksama and Haademeeste.
