The volumes of plane-carried cargos have increased at Lithuanian airports this year, rising 17% to 4,500 tons in the first quarter, reported LETA/BNS.
Aurimas Stikliunas, head of aviation services at Lietuvos Oro Uostai (Lithuanian Airports), the airport operator in Lithuania, says medical supplies mainly pushed the general cargo volumes as around 450 tons of them were delivered.
Vilnius Airport accounted for the largest share of received medial supplies as their volumes stood at 3,700 tons, up 20 percent, followed by Kaunas with 802.3 tons (up 4%) and Palanga with 0.9 tons (up 30%).
In March alone, cargo volumes rose 13% to 1,600 tons.
