airBaltic launches flights to Tartu from July

Juhan Tere, BC, Riga/Tartu, 01.06.2009.Print version
Latvian national airline airBaltic will launch regular flights from Riga to Tartu starting July 3 2009, as PM Online/LETA informs.

airBaltic will offer four flights a week on the Riga-Tartu route: Mondays, Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays. One flight takes 50 minutes.

A "Fokker 50" with 46 seats on board will be employed on the Riga-Tartu route.

airBaltic Vice President Janis Vanags admits that, even though tickets for the Riga-Tartu flights are already available, the airline has not yet officially announced the launch of the new flights, and wishes to see first how the market reacts to the new offer.

According to Vanags, airBaltic already offers flights to cities and towns that are much smaller than Tartu – Oulu in Finland and Tromso in Norway, and these flights are profitable.
