BC, Tallinn, 09.07.2018.Print version
Estonian Prime Minister Juri Ratas at a meeting with Italian President Sergio Mattarella said that a direct air connection without layovers between Tallinn and Rome would promote cooperation between the two countries, informs LETA/BNS.

"This week Italian President Sergio Mattarella, whom I was also honored to receive at Stenbock House, visited Estonia for the country's 100th anniversary," Ratas said on social media. "The cooperation between Estonia and Italy is friendly both in the European Union as well as in NATO, but also in bilateral communication. There are several joint activities and progress in the field of culture and economy, but there is also a fair share of room for development. At the meeting, I highlighted that a direct air connection between Tallinn and Rome would definitely give our closer cooperation a positive boost."

Ratas in his statement on social media reflected also on the meeting the government leaders of China and Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC) held at the end of the week in Sofia, Bulgaria.

"The so-called 16+1 cooperation format was launched in 2012 and culminates with a summit every year. The rural affairs ministers of Estonia and China in the framework of the meeting signed a plan of action for the years 2018-2022. Our objective is to open the large Chinese market to companies of the Estonian food industry," the prime minister said. "I also met with the Chinese prime minister. We discussed the relations of the two countries and further possibilities for increasing cooperation. China is undoubtedly a very important economic partner for Estonia and the whole of Europe."
