Section of Ogre-Tinuzi road closed to traffic

BC, Riga, 19.05.2017.Print version
A section of Ogre-Tinuzi road partly collapsed today as Celu Parvalde, a road maintenance company reconstructing the road, hit a layer of peat, which is why the road will be temporarily closed to traffic, Ogre Region Council informed LETA.

"We have agreed that this road section has to be closed to rule out any possibility of an accident," said Egils Helmanis, deputy chairman of Ogre Region Council. He said the municipality would inform residents about other routes to bypass the closed Ogre-Tinuzi road section.

The road section will be closed for approximately two weeks. During that time, the peat layer will be removed and replaced with sand and crushed stone. According to Celu Parvalde, the company will be working overtime to complete reconstruction of the road as soon as possible.
