Latvijas Dzelzcels rail company to cooperate with Russia's largest freight railway operator
Under a memorandum
signed in Moscow by LDz president Edvins
Berzins and Freight One CEO Alexander Sapronov, the two companies
intend to develop cooperation in transport and logistics.
The
document provides for mutual cooperation on enhancing freight shipping
operations and ensuring a more efficient use of Freight One's rolling stock by cutting idle-standing and
transportation of empty containers. Cooperation is also being planned on the
implementation of the Russian company's client service quality program.
To
increase freight transportation, the companies will cooperate by introducing new
technologies in the operation of freight cars and freight reloading.
"The
signing of the memorandum with our Latvian partners will allow us to manage the
legal, technological and financial issues of international freight shipping
much more efficiently. The step will strengthen Freight One's position in the Baltic region and help increase
freight shipping, as well as improve the quality of services provided to
freight shippers in Russia, other CIS countries and European states," said
Sapronov.
Berzins
said that developing cooperation with long-standing partners in highly
important, especially since global developments are increasing competition also
on the transport market.
