Klaipeda occupied the 3-rd standing in the list of the Eastern coast Baltic Seaports

Within the period of January – June of 2016 Klaipeda Seaport cargo handling turnover increased by 5,7 %. to 19,94 mln. tn, i.e. more by 1 081,0 thou. tn comparing with the corresponding period of 2015, informs BC Klaipeda Seaport`s Marketing Department specialist Mantas Stončius.

According to the rankings of the change of cargo throughput estimated in percent (5,7%) and the increase of cargo handling volumes  estimated in tons (1 081,1 thou. tn) Klaipeda Seaport occupied the 3-rd standing in the list of the Eastern coast Baltic Seaports. 

Year-on-year changes of overall turnover according to cargo types:

 

General cargo – 6 130,5  thou. tn were handled, +9,2%. or +514,3 thou. tn yoy;

Liquid cargo – 6 403,4 thou. tn were handled, +22,9%. or +1 194,5 thou. tn yoy;

Dry and bulk cargo – 7 403,4 thou. tn were handled, -7,8%. or -627,7 thou. tn yoy.

3 460 vessels were reported to call Klaipeda Seaport in January – June of 2016, i.e. more by 5,8%. or by 189 vessels comparing with January - June of 2015. 

 

The Seaport accommodated 131 739 passengers, i.e., less by 4,8 %. or by 6 602 passengers. 

Cruise shipping. 19 cruise vessels with 21 578 passengers on board visited Klaipeda

UST-LUGA PORT is the priority project related with cargo handling capacity development of Russian ports in the Baltic Sea region. In January –June  of 2016 the cargo handling throughput in the Port increased by 2,26 mln tn or by 5,3 %. to  44,86 mln  tn comparing with January – June of 2015.


Oil products and crude oil constitute even 67%. of overall Seaport cargo handling turnover:

 

- 15,35 mln tn of oil products were handled, +3,6%. or + 530,3 thou tn yoy;

- 14,62 mln  tn of crude oil were handled, +9,1%. or + 1 218,6 thou. tn yoy.


Other categories of cargo that made the impact on the overall cargo handling turnover in the Seaport were as follows:


-fertilizers 1 663,4 thou. tn were handled, +104,7%. or +850,8 thou. tn;

 

Cargo handling volumes decreased in the handling of :


- coal – 9,74 mln tn were handled, -2,9%. or -285,7 thou. tn yoy;

- Ro-Ro cargoes – 758,5 thou. tn were handled, -24,8 %. or -250,4 thou. tn yoy.

 

Altogether 32,50 mln tn of products, i.e. more by 9,1%. or by 2,71 mln tn than in January-June of 2015 were handled in  PRIMORSK PORT.

 

Exclusively two types of cargo are handled in the Seaport


- 24,95 mln tn of crude oil were handled, +11,3%. or +2,54 mln tn  yoy;

- 7,55 mln tn of oil products were handled,  +2,3%. or +170,3 thou. tn  yoy.

 

In January –June of 2016 the SEAPORT of  SAINT - PETERSBURG handled 24,16 mln tn  of cargo, i.e., less  by 8,0%. or by 2,10 mln tn than within the corresponding period of 2015.

 

Basic categories of cargo that made the most significant impact on cargo handling results in January –May of 2016 were as follows: 


-containerised cargoes – 10,33 mln tn were handled, +3,3%. or +334,8 thou. tn yoy;

- containerised cargoes (TEU) – 860 993 TEU were handled, -0,1 %. or -833 TEU yoy;

-metal – 3,47mln tn were handled, +2,8%. or +93,8 thou. tn yoy;

- oil products – 3,32 mln tn were handled, -34,0%. or -1 709,9 thou.tn yoy;

- fertilizers– 3,17 mln tn were handled, -17,8%. or -683,6 thou. tn yoy.

 

In January –June of 2016 the drop of cargo handling turnover was recorded in the FREEPORT OF RIGA – altogether18,27 mln tn or less by 11,5 %. or by 2 371,3 thou. tn comparing with the corresponding period of 2015 were handled in the Port. 

 

The dynamics of basic cargo categories handled in the Port:

 

- coal – 5,96 mln tn were handled, -21,0%. or  -1 583,4 thou. tn yoy;

- oil products – 4,80 mln tn were handled, -16,6%. or -955,9  thou. tn yoy;

- containerised cargo – 1,91 mln tn were handled, - 1,0%. or -20,0 thou. tn yoy;

- containerised cargo  (TEU) – 182 538 TEU were handled, +1,3%. or +2 383 TEU yoy;

- fertilizers – 1 449,0 thou. tn were handled, +3,7%. or 51,9 thou. tn yoy.

 

Passenger traffic. The Freeport of Riga received 249 996 passengers in January –June of 2016, i.e., more by 5,3%. or by 12 476 passengers comparing with January-June of 2015. 

 

The overall throughput in the JOINT PORT of TALLINN in January-June of 2016 was 10,70 mln tn, i.e., less by 11,4%. or by 1 383,1 thou. tn comparing with the corresponding period in 2015.

 

Basic cargo categories that made the greatest impact on cargo handling results in January -June of 2016 were as follows:

 

- oil products – 5,47 mln tn were handled, -25,7%. or -1 897,3 thou. tn yoy;

- Ro-Ro cargoes – 2,26 mln tn were handled, +5,2%. or +111,4 thou. tn yoy;

containerised cargoes– 849,7 thou. tn were handled, -1,8%. or -15,9 thou tn yoy;

- containerised cargoes (TEU) – 97 133 TEU were handled, -4,5%. or -4 625 TEU yoy.

 

Passenger traffic. In January – June of 2016 the Joint Port of Tallinn rendered services to

4 622,3 thou. passengers, i.e. more by  5,2%. or by 226,7 thou. passengers comparing with the corresponding period of 2015.

 

Vessels.  3 566 vessels was reported to call the Port of Tallinn, i.e. more by 2,8%. or by 97 vessels  comparing with January – May of 2015.

 

In January –June  of 2016 the cargo handling turnover in the SEAPORT OF VENTSPILS comparing with the same period  of 2015 dropped down to 10,03 mln tn , i.e., less by 25,1%. or by 3 352,0 thou. tn.

 

Basic cargo categories that made the greatest impact on cargo handling results in January-June of 2016 were as follows:

 

- oil products – 5,98 mln tn were handled, -28,8%. or -2 419,0 thou. tn yoy;

- coal – 1,56 mln tn were handled, -46,8%. or -1 372,0 thou. tn yoy;

- Ro-Ro cargoes – 967,0 thou. tn were handled, +10,4%. or +91,0 thou. tn yoy.

 

Passenger traffic. In January –June of the current year 46 610 passengers called the port of Ventspils, i.e., more by 9,7 %. or by 4 107 passengers comparing with January –June of 2015.

 

Vessels. The Seaport accommodated 565 vessels in January –June of 2016, i.e., less by 10,1%, or by 74 vessels.

 

The total cargo throughput in VYSOTSK SEAPORT was 8,26 mln tn in January – June of 2016, i.e.  less by 2,7%. or by 226,9 thou. tn than in the corresponding period of 2015.

Exclusively two types of cargo are being handled in this Seaport.

 

- oil products -  5,26 mln tn were transhiped, -10,4%. or -611,6 thou.tn yoy;

- coal -  3,00 mln tn were handled,  +14,7%. or  +384,7 thou. tn yoy.

 

 

Within the analysed period the total throughput in the PORT OF KALININGRAD was 6,11 mln tn,  i.e., less by 4,8 %. or by 305,2 thou. tn than in January - June of 2015.

 

Basic cargo categories that made the greatest impact on cargo handling results in January – June of 2015 were as follows:

 

- Ro-Ro cargoes – 694,1 thou. tn were handled, -24,3%. or -222,9 thou. tn yoy;

- grain – 659,6 thou. tn were handled, +37,7%. or +180,7 thou tn yoy;

- oil products – 625,0 thou. tn were handled, -39,0 %. or -400,2 thou. tn yoy;

- metal – 529,2 thou. tn were handled, -6,8 %. or -38,4 thou. tn yoy;

- containerised cargoes – 464,3 thou. tn were handled, +17,0%. or +67,5 thou. tn yoy;

- containerised cargoes (TEU) – 81 856 TEU were handled, +11,3%. or +8 295 TEU yoy.


The total throughput in the PORT of LIEPAJA in January – June of 2016 was 2,69 mln tn, i.e.,  less by 0,4%. or by 11,3 thou. tn comparing the corresponding period  of 2015.

 

Changes of cargo throughput of basic cargo categories  in January – June of  2016 were as follows:

- grain – 1 305,5 thou. tn were handled ( the throughput of grain handling accounts  as many as for 48,6%. of the overall cargo handling), +1,7 %. or +22,4 thou. tn yoy;

- timber – 285,1 thou. tn were handled, -11,9  %. or -38,4 thou. tn yoy;

- Ro-Ro cargoes – 268,8 thou. tn were handled, -22,3 %. or -77,1 thou. tn yoy.

 

Passenger traffic.  The number of passengers calling the Port of Liepaja was 15 245 passengers, i.e., less by 21,9%. or by 4 278 passengers comparing with January – June of 2015.

 

Vessels. In January – June of the current year 671 vessel called the Seaport, i.e., less by 2,8%. or by 19 vessels comparing with the corresponding period of the previous year.
