Aviation industry made up 2.5% Latvia's GDP in 2014

The aviation and associated industries made up 2.5% of Latvia's GDP in 2014, or EUR 585 million, as Olegs Baranovs, Director of the Economy Ministry's National Economy Structural Policy Department, said at an aviation industry forum today, cites LETA.

He said that airBaltic's direct contribution to Latvia's GDP was 0.3% or EUR 60 million, but Riga International Airport – 0.2% or EUR 41 million.

 

In 2014, a total of 49 companies operated in the aviation industry in Latvia, with 3,500 persons employed directly in the aviation industry and another 20,000 employed in associated industries.

 

The aviation industry paid EUR 161.5 million in direct taxes in 2014, or 2.4% of all taxes.
