Lithuanian air carriers' passenger numbers fall by 10% in 3 months
The total volume of cargo and mail handled by the country's air carriers dropped by 13% to 114 tons.
In March alone, Lithuania's airlines carried 22,700 passengers –- up 9.2% month-on-month, but down 19% year-on-year.
The total of 913,900 passengers went through Lithuania's airports during
the first three months of 2016, a rise of 16.9% on the same time
last year, preliminary figures from Statistics Lithuania showed on
Thursday.
The largest passenger numbers flew to and from Britain (202,000, or 22.1% of the total number), Germany (96,100, or 10.5%), and Norway (77,800, or 8.5%).
Year-on-year increases were recorded in passenger numbers to and from Spain, at 75.3%, Denmark, at 69.3%, and Germany, at 22.9%.
The country's airports handled a total of 3,100 tons of cargo and mail in January through March, up 16.3% from a year ago.
