Port of Tallinn January freight turnover decreased by 7.7%

Altogether 2.2 million tons of goods passed through the ports of Estonia's state-owned Port of Tallinn in January 2016, 7.7% less than during the same month last year, informs LETA/BNS.

The number of freight ships received by the ports was on a par with January 2015.

 

Bulk cargoes, totaling 238,600 tons, registered he biggest increase, growing 28.3% year on year. Mixed cargoes also moved up – by 12.5% to 64,100 tons. The amount of rolling stock handled during the month grew 5.4% to 318,700 tons.

 

Liquid cargoes, totaling 1.5 million tons, decreased by 15.3%. The number of containers passing through the ports dropped by 11.3% to 15,277 TEU and the amount of goods transported in containers was up by 0.8% at 141,000 tons.

 

The ports received 151 visits by freight ships during the month.
