Riga ranks 1st among Baltic ports by cargo traffic in January-October

Klaipeda ranked second after Riga among all ports in the three Baltic countries in terms of cargo traffic in January through October 2015, reports LETA/BNS, according to figures released by the ports.

The port of Klaipeda handled 32.296 million tons of cargo during the ten months, a rise of 7.3% on the same time last year.

 

Riga posted a 0.7% decline in cargo traffic to 33.334 million tons. Ventspils recorded a 14.1% decline to 19.278 million tons. Cargo traffic via Liepaja grew by 8% to 4.625 million tons.

Tallinn saw cargo volumes fall by 18.5% to 19.2 million tons.

 

Lithuania's Butinge oil terminal handled 7.292 million tons of crude during the ten months, up 23% from a year ago.
