Volkswagen still leads new car market in Latvia

Print versionThe various models manufactured by Volkswagen remain in top position with most sold according to statistics in the second quarter of the year. Latauto.lv is quick to add that on the heels of the Germans are the Japanese – "Toyota" and "Nissan", writes LETA.

"Nissan" in particular recorded the biggest jump with 52% more cars sold than in Q2 2014.
Andris Malnieks, senior staff member at Latauto.lv, also singles out "Nissan's" surge: "One year ago, they were satisfied for being in the "top 5" at number 5. But in the period April-June, 359 more vehicles were sold than in the same period in 2014. The most popular model is "Nissan Qashqai" – a car called both practical and sporty.
"Toyota" is in second place, despite selling 5.7% less cars than in Q2 2014 – the sole make registering a drop.
"Peugeot" has slipped, after being in third place in the second quarter last year.
