Consumption of gasoline has been falling in Latvia for the past several years, as the Latvian Fuel Traders Association's head Martins Stirans told the Nozare.lv business portal, cites LETA.

For the first time in Latvia, the proportion of consumption of fuel was below 20% of total fuel consumption in Latvia in April 2015, said Stirans. Back in the 1990s, gasoline accounted for 80% of all fuel sales in Latvia.

As reported, a total of 1.233 million tons of oil products (fuel) was sold in Latvia last year, which is 19,710 tons or 2% more than in 2013. Retail of fuel increased 7%, according to the State Revenue Service's data.
