Eesti Raudtee financial results for 2014: decline continues

Estonian state-owned railway infrastructure company Eesti Raudtee (Estonian Railways Co) council on Wednesday approved the company's 2014 annual financial report, according to which, the company had revenues of EUR 55.5 million and a net loss of 0.26 million, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

Operating income decreased by 12.7 million euros, or 18.6% in a year.

 

Sales revenue fell 20% to 51.5 million euros. 85% of the sales revenue was earned from cargo transport servicing, 7% from passenger transport servicing and 8% were other of revenues.

 

The company invested a total of 15.5 million euros in 2014, which is 42% less than the year before.

 

19.22 million tonnes of freight was transported on Eesti Raudtee infrastructure, of which 14.08 million tonnes was transit, 0.62 million tonnes export and 1.05 million tonnes imports. The largest cargo group was oil and oil products, representing 9.83 million tonnes of the total volume of transport, followed by fertilizers with 3.35 million and oil shale with 2.67 million tonnes. Local traffic formed 3.47 million tonnes. Container traffic volume was 72,000 TEUs, and it increased by 16%.

 

The cargo transport volume in 2014 was 21% below the 2013 volume.
