New buses and trolleys rolling in for Rigas satiksme

Print versionPublic transport company Rigas satiksme has so far received 35 new Solaris buses and 25 Skoda Electric trolley-buses, as Rigas satiksme representative Viktors Zakis told LETA.

The new vehicles were shipped to Riga at the end of 2014. In the second half of the year, Rigas satiksme will receive another 35 new buses and 25 new trolley-buses, said Zakis.
The new vehicles will gradually replace the old ones, which are then either sold at auction or for scrap.
As reported, Rigas satiksme is to buy a total of 228 new buses for EUR 75.8 million in total, according to the company's agreement with Poland's Solaris Bus&Coach S.A. Furthermore, Rigas satiksme has ordered 125 new buses from the Czech company "Skoda Electric", which cost a total of EUR 131.8 million.
