Eesti Raudtee's plan for 2015: EUR 9 mln loss

BC, Tallinn, 19.12.2014.Print version
Eesti Raudtee (Estonian Railways Co) 2015 net loss will reach EUR 9 million, according to the budget approved by the company's council, LETA/Public Broadcasting reports.

This is based on the assumption that the cargo transport volume at the railways continues to fall, to 17.3 million tonnes next year.

The planned 2015 revenues will be EUR 45.7 million and planned business expenses EUR 33.9 million, the company announced.

Compared to the EUR 68.1 million euro budget compiled for this year, Eesti Raudtee's turnover falls next year by almost a third – 32.9%, Postimees Online adds.

Chairman of the Board of the company Ahti Asmann said it is important that the Eesti Raudtee development plans would be reflected in the country's fiscal strategy. Asmann added that the company expects the economy ministry to develop a new methodology of calculating railway infrastructure usage fees, which divides the railway maintenance costs more equally between cargo and passenger carriers and the state.
