240 people in Estonia have claimed applications against tourism companies

Recent months have given deathblow to many Estonian small travel agencies, and 240 people have claimed applications against five companies to the Consumer Protection Board (CPB) of Estonia, LETA reported via Postimees.

The total amount of claims currently amounts to nearly five million kroons.

 

At the beginning of this year Lighthouse, another travel agency announced of bankruptcy and cancelling the trips. For it the CPB got 15 claims in amount of 278,795 kroons.

The CPB got most claims after a company Aaria Reisid went bankrupt: 101 person in total claim for 1.4 million kroons.

 

The most scandalous was a bankruptcy of Eurotour – the agency collected 50,000 kroons from 42 people for a trip to Namibia, after which it announced bankruptcy. The CPB received 47 claims in value of 1.8 million kroons for Eurotour.

 

People managed to get back only 11% of their money.

 

North Police Prefecture has started a criminal case against Eurotour.

 

CPB received 20 claims in amount of 76,401 kroons for Suntravel (Happy Travel) and 57 complaints for LineCross OÜ valued 1.2 million kroons.
